3 Strategies to Make Your Own Women’s History

It’s women’s history month - oh yeah! Have you done anything yet to celebrate and honor the history that women are making (or have made)? Well, I’ve made some vacation plans with my girls, celebrated the historical moment of my own birthday, and I will soon remember the passing of my grandma Pearl, who made lots of history. Oh, and I STILL have chills from Ketanji Brown Jackson being nominated for the Supreme Court - if that isn’t women's history, I don’t know what is!

I want you to remember that the path to wealthy life is made easier (and perhaps more fulfilling) when you use the power of our collective to advance the goals and desires that you hold in your hearts. And, women know how to use the power of the collective more than anyone. I want you to use the power of the collective to make your own history. If you need some visual inspiration, check out one of these powerful movies from Cinemablend’s list of great movies to watch for women’s history month. My favorites on the list are Hidden Figures and A League of Their Own because these movies epitomize how women work together to accomplish BIG things!

In honor of women’s history month, I want to share 3 strategies you can use to make some of your own history with the women in your life:

  1. Spend time with a woman above 80-years-old who you respect. If someone in your life is above 80-years old, they have a TON of history. Ask them about it so that they can share their stories with you. It’s important to honor our elders, especially the females who have kept us whole.

  2. Tell or show your little ones, girls and boys, about three women who are important to your history.  I assure you that the children around you will absorb what you say to them. Or, you might show your kids the importance of women through an activity such as drawing or going to a museum.  The exposure matters.

  3. Embrace being ‘taken care of.” Yes, I said it. If you’re a woman reading this, I can imagine that you are juggling the demands of work, family, and everything in between as you strive to make your own history. If someone wants to do something for you to ease the burden, let them and embrace the notion that your strength sometimes comes from being dependent on others.

A Wealthy Girl Corner

For those of you celebrating a Lenten season (as am I), I wish you a peaceful time learning and growing spiritually. Surround yourself with who you need and what you need, while removing yourself from things that you don’t need.

I leave you with one of the most powerful verses from one woman (Ruth) to another (Naomi) as they supported each other along their journeys:

Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.
— Ruth 1:16

Happy Women’s Month!
